ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Avionics Intern, you will assist in the design, development, integration, and testing of avionics systems for AnduraX's reusable re-entry vehicle and associated ground systems. You will work on embedded electronics, data acquisition systems, flight computers, power distribution, telemetry, sensor integration, and onboard communication systems. This role combines electronics design with hands-on hardware development, laboratory testing, and vehicle integration, providing exposure to the complete avionics development lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Assist in the design and development of avionics systems for flight vehicles and ground support equipment.
  • Support the development of Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems for pressure, temperature, strain, load, flow, and inertial sensors.
  • Assist in the design and testing of embedded electronics, signal conditioning circuits, and power distribution systems.
  • Support PCB design, schematic development, component selection, and hardware prototyping.
  • Interface sensors, actuators, radios, and communication modules with onboard electronics.
  • Assist in integrating flight computers, telemetry systems, GPS, IMUs, and other avionics subsystems.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, validation, and system-level testing.
  • Support wiring, harness design, electrical integration, and laboratory testing activities.
  • Assist in data logging, telemetry monitoring, and real-time system health monitoring.
  • Participate in vehicle integration, propulsion testing, and flight campaign preparations.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, test procedures, wiring diagrams, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with Embedded Software, GNC, Propulsion, Mechanical Systems, and Systems Engineering teams throughout the product development cycle.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Pursuing or recently completed B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong fundamentals in Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Embedded Systems, and Electrical Circuits.
  • Basic understanding of microcontrollers and communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I²C, and CAN.
  • Familiarity with sensors, signal conditioning, power electronics, and data acquisition systems.
  • Basic programming experience in C/C++ or Python.
  • Familiarity with PCB design and electronic circuit debugging.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with an interest in aerospace electronics.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with Formula Student, SAE Aero Design, CanSat, Rocketry, CubeSat, UAV, Robotics, or similar engineering projects.
  • Hands-on experience with STM32, Arduino, Teensy, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or similar embedded platforms.
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer, KiCad, EasyEDA, or other PCB design software.
  • Experience with sensor integration, telemetry systems, or flight electronics.
  • Exposure to embedded firmware development and hardware debugging.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Git, and embedded development tools.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and hardware validation.
  • Understanding of the aerospace product development lifecycle.
